This circular route explores the hills above the villages of the Guájares. The route is 8.05 km long, has an elevation of 345 m and takes about 4 hours to complete.
This circular route starts in the village of Guájar Fondón. The walk begins with a steep uphill ascent as we make our way up to Castillejo. Here, there are fantastic views of the surrounding area. We then walk down and cross the Río Toba and up into the village of Guájar Faragüit. From here, we make our way back up to the village of Guájar Fondón and back to the starting point.
Normally the best place to go for a beer afterwards is the bar in Guajar Faraguit. On Wednesdays it is difficult to find a place to go for a drink afterwards. The nearest place is Salobreña. Don't go to the Cepsa garage. It is terrible.
In 2025 we went on a Sunday and the bar Casa Pilar just up from the parking place was open and it was good. We reserved a table at the start of the walk and there was a table ready at the end of the walk. (the walk actually did take just under 4 hours)
